EXTENDED REGISTRATION: Travel to Southern California

Travel To Southern California, March 7–15, 2018.

Join Garden Director, Benjamin Futa, and fellow Friends of Allen Centennial Garden members for an exceptional week exploring the gardens, art, culture, history, and architecture of the southern California region. With our base at the beautiful Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, we’ll spend the week enjoying fine garden experiences, including an unparalleled behind-the-scenes experience at the Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens. The J. Paul Getty Museum and The Getty Villa offer exceptional architecture, art collections, and a robust botanical showcase. A tour of the Cal Tech campus and visits to the Norton Simon Museum of Art, Gamble House, and Eaton Canyon round out our experience in Pasadena.

As a respite from the busy city, we’ll enjoy a special weekend exploring the coastal community of Santa Barbara, just north of Los Angeles. Special, intimate garden visits await, including Ganna Walska Lotusland, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and Old Mission Santa Barbara, with lodging at the luxurious Kimpton Canary Hotel.

Registration and Deposit

Registration is open to the public. Deposits or sincere expression of interest must be received by December 1.

A deposit of $1,000 (for double occupancy) or $1,500 for (single occupancy) per person is due to secure a reservation. Reservations and deposits must be mailed to (PO BOX 5511, Madison, 53705), and postmarked on or after October 2. We are EXTENDING registration, and if interested in attending the trip, the final balance is due on or before March 1. Payment accepted via check only – checks must be made out to Friends of Allen Centennial Garden.


Tour Pricing

Double Occupancy: $2,200 total ($1,000 deposit postmarked on or after Oct 2, and remaining $1,200 due on or before December 29)

Single Occupancy: $3,200 total ($1,500 deposit postmarked on or after Oct 2, and remaining $1,700 due on or before December 29)


Cancellation Policy

If registrant cancels:

Before Dec 29: full refund

Dec 30–Jan 30: 50% refund

After Feb 1: no refund

If FACG cancels the trip at any time, for any reason, participants will be issued a full refund.


Roommate Preference 

Roommates are encouraged to submit their registrations together to ensure both make it on the trip. If you do not have a roommate selected, FACG will do their best to match you with another participant based on information you each provide at time of registration.


Lodging and Travel

Travel arrangements to California should be made on your own. Participants are not eligible to earn hotel points, but may earn flight points/frequent flyer miles.

When making flight arrangements, we recommended flying in to Bob Hope Airport in Burbank – it is much closer to Pasadena and should have less congestion than LAX.

Tour price includes lodging for the evening of March 7 and 14.



Lunch is included each day, and select special dinners are in the works. Breakfast will be on your own.
