Andrée Valley Artist Exhibition in the Garden

This fall and winter, Allen Centennial Garden is having an art exhibition that features the talented work by artist, Andrée Valley. Andrée Valley received her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Denver and her M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. Her background is in ceramics and sculpture, and for the last 20 years she has been primarily used metal for her sculptural medium. She has created metal sculptures that are shaped into various designs throughout the Garden. Andrée’s sculptures are brightly colored and abstract, allowing visitors to create their own understanding and connection to the pieces. The Triffid Group, located in the English Garden, is the only non-abstract piece in the collection. This piece was inspired by a science fiction novel by John Wyndham, called The Day of the Triffids, where bioengineered seeds grow into beautiful plants filled with nutrients, but also with a sinister side. Andrée’s piece represents the brighter side of their nature. As seasons progress, Andrée’s art will illuminate the Garden and will add lots of color to the Garden this winter.

The Allen Centennial Garden and its programs are funded entirely through private support - it receives no state or tuition dollars. To help support the Garden and continue to make our projects and programs possible, please consider a donation.
