Lunchtime Wellness Series

Allen Centennial Garden is committed to reconnecting Madison residents and the UW community with nature. This summer experience a holistic wellness program that seeks to improve mental health through lunchtime offerings at the Garden. Bring your lunch and enjoy different themes that will change weekly and include topics such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation, healthy eating and art--all with a horticultural twist. All sessions are on Thursdays from 11:30am-1:30pm.

*All sessions are free and in drop-in fashion. While supplies last.

SCHEDULE:

May 24- Nature Bookmarks

"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."--Joseph Addison.                                                     Create one of a kind pressed bookmarks using greenery and fresh flowers from the Garden.

May 31- Lip Balm

Move over, Burt's Bees! Keep your lips soft this summer and make your own lip balm with wax harvested from ACGs hives

June 7- Loving Kindness Compassion Meditation with Bob McGrath*

Join in this meditation practice to develop compassion and cultivate love.

June 14- Live Music

Bring your lunch, sip on some sun tea and enjoy live music at Allen Centennial Garden.

June 21- Healthy Eating

Hyper-local gets a whole new meaning in this lunchtime wellness session. Help harvest product from the Garden and learn how to make a healthy snack.

June 28- 7 Chakra Meditation with Bob McGrath*

Join us in this meditation practice to improve the balance of your key chakras and bring your health and mental attitude into a more peaceful state.

July 5- NO SESSION

July 12- Sun Prints

Relax at the Garden with friendly support dogs and DIY sun prints that make images using plant material and the sun.

July 19- Heathly Eating

Hyper-local gets a whole new meaning in this lunchtime wellness session. Help harvest product from the Garden and learn how to make a healthy snack.

July 26- Muscular and Mantra Meditiation with Bob McGrath*

Enjoy a combination meditation that reduces muscular tension and increases ability to focus.

August 2- Live Music

Bring your lunch, sip on some sun tea and enjoy live music at Allen Centennial Garden.

August 9- Healthy Eating

Hyper-local gets a whole new meaning in this lunchtime wellness session. Help harvest product from the Garden and learn how to make a healthy snack.

August 16- Sonic Meditation with Bob McGrath*

Explore meditation with sound.

August 23- DIY Garden Charm

Create a one-of-a-kind piece of Garden art to mark your keys, glass or something else!

August 30- Live Music

Bring your lunch, sip on some sun tea and enjoy live music at Allen Centennial Garden.

September 6- Mini Succuluet Cork Planters

Bring the power of plants home (or to work) by making a mini-succulent planter.

September 13- Gratitude Meditation with Bob McGrath*

Join in this meditation practice to promote a postive mood, hope and resilience.

 

*Meditation starts promptly at 12pm and lasts approximately 50-60 minutes. Each meditation starts with a short talk about living with vitality and then a moving meditation to release tension and increase focus. Please arrive early to secure a spot.
